Leó, Balu és Sir Kán még kölyökkorukban barátkoztak össze. Elválaszthatatlan barátok lettek.
Az állatok kölyökkoruk óta élnek együtt, a georgiai Nóé Bárkája állatmenhelyen. 2001-ben a georgiai rendőrség lecsapott egy drogdíler házára, ahol a legnagyobb meglepetésükre három ketrecet találtak. Ezekben volt egy medvebocs, egy tigris és egy oroszlánkölyök.
Alultápláltak voltak mindhárman, és súlyos higiéniás problémákkal is kűzdöttek. A medve húsába egy pánt mélyedt, a tigris csont sovány volt, az oroszlán pofáján egy sem tátongott.

Az állatok a razzia után a Noé bárkája állatmenhelyre kerültek, és azóta is együtt élnek. Balu, a medve él már csak a trióból. Leo 2016.ban, Sír Kán 2018-ban pusztult el. A gondozók mindent megtesznek Baluért, hogy ne maradjon egyedül. Sokat foglalkoznak az állattal.
